Explorers

The Explorer unit at 1st Stoke Climsland is made up of members aged from 14 to 18. The Unit is youth led with the Explorers taking an active role in planning and executing the programme. The primary aim is to have Fun and for the Explorers to create their own programme which in turn helps them work towards achieving the top awards in Scouting alongside the Duke of Edinburgh Awards

Holding regular camps throughout the year, provides many opportunities for the Explorers to gain Skills for Life and develop themselves, learning skills such as Leadership, problem solving, Cooking, Navigation and First Aid.

The above skills and many more are learnt and developed across a huge range of activities including, Expeditions, Camping, Climbing, Fire lighting, Abseiling, Archery, Kayaking, Rafting and DIY skills. 1st Stoke Climsland are an active group and we like to spend as much time as possible outside in the local area around us.

Explorer Scouts also have the option of becoming a Young Leader and helping at other sections in the Group or other groups in the District. The time spent supporting other sections can counts towards the Volunteering criteria of the Duke of Edinburgh awards that we also run in parallel with the Explorer Unit.
