The Scout section covers ages 10½ to 14 and members are encouraged to take part in a wide range of activities as part of their programme.
Scouts take part in a balanced programme that helps them to find out about the world in which they live, encourages them to know their own abilities, to explore their own values and personal attitudes.
Being outdoors is important and much of the programme is given over to taking part in both the traditional Scouting skills, such as camping, survival and cooking as well as a wide range of adventurous activities, anything from abseiling to kayaking. Scouting is about being with friends, as part of a team, participating fully in the adventure and opportunities of life.
We value traditional scout skills such as patrol camping where Scouts work as a patrol (generally in groups of 6) and setup and manage their own area and cook their own food often on wood fires. We teach leadership skills, independence, resilience and teamwork as well as having lots of fun doing it.
Over your time in the Scout section, you will have had the opportunities to learn new games, pioneering skills from the 6 basic knots to making more advanced structures, first aid, walking and camping on Dartmoor, international camps and jamborees and much more.
Our Scouts have fun in outdoor activities whatever the weather be sun, snow or rain. It’s our mission to make sure you have fun whatever the challenge and take pride in seeing you realise your accomplishments.
We meet on Tuesdays between 7pm to 9pm
