About us

About Us

The 1st Stoke Climsland Scouts is a long standing community that was founded in 1983. Our scouting community is located in the heart of Stoke Climsland village which borders the well-established town of Callington. We have become a recognised scout troop within Cornwall and continue to be a pillar of the local area providing a safe and welcoming environment for young people to thrive and discover new skills.

Sections

The community consists of five sections which cater to children and young people of a range of ages

  • Beavers – ages 6-8 years
  • Cubs – ages 8-10½ years
  • Scouts – ages 10½-14 years
  • Explorers – ages 14-18 years
  • Network – ages 18-25 years

Meetings/Events

Once a week, during term time, the sections will have an evening meeting that is usually held at the main Scout hut, for each section these run on –

  • Beavers – Wednesday 18:00-19:00
  • Cubs – Thursday 18:30-20:00
  • Scouts – Tuesday 19:00-21:00
  • Explorers – Monday 19:00-21:00

Please contact us for information on Network meeting days and times.

Throughout the year there are also regular events and camps such as summer camp, Kernopoly, Coast 2 Coast and D of E (bronze, silver and gold). As well as larger scale events including national and international jamborees providing young people the chance to meet scouts from around the world.

Uniform

Our leaders can provide you with more information regarding what uniform is required for the different sections. Make sure to talk with us before buying as we often have second hand uniforms available.
Uniforms can be purchased from our Scout Store. You will be able to collect them from the leader when they are available. The store is only available to members of 1st Stoke Climsland.

Costs

Each group charges a fee which covers the costs of running regular meetings including the materials needed for activities. There are also some additional charges for camps and special events but we keep these as low as possible through fundraisers to ensure that everyone can become a part of the scouting community.
